What are things to watch for when hiring a painting company?

Are you hiring a Painter?

Here are some key things to keep in mind when in the process of hiring a painting company.

Edmonton and Calgary Areas are much like any other city. You need to be careful when hiring contractors and trades to help paint your home or business.

Making a decision on who to hire can sometimes be a difficult thing. Here is a checklist of what we believe are the most important things to look for when deciding who you hire.

  1. If they ask for money upfront, take it as a signal that something is fishy.

Do not give money to any contractor without them doing something in return. If they have dropped off supplies, they are able to ask for the cost of those supplies. If they are asking right off the start for a good portion of the contract, take a step back. Legally, you need a certain permit to ask for money upfront, so if they are asking, ask to see their documentation.

At Painters Enterprise, we ask that you pay for the job when the project is complete and never before. We carry all the costs until the job is complete.

  2. Ensure they have WCB and Insurance coverage.

You can easily check to see if a company is covered by WCB by clicking here. Insurance companies are more than happy to provide documentation for Liability Insurance. We are constantly being asked to provide a Certificate of Insurance to our clients.

  3. What are others saying about them?

If they came to you through a referral, you can pretty much guarantee that they are good at what they do. You should be able to trust them as much as you trust the person that referred them.
Google reviews and Facebook reviews are great ways to see what others’ experiences have been. True, they may have one on there that may not have had a great experience but you can not always please everyone. Sometimes, there are people that just want to leave bad reviews. If you see more than 5% of their reviews as 1 star, put up a red flag.
Want to check out what people are saying about us, click here. Yes, we have one bad review as well. As you can tell from my response to him, as far as I can tell, we have never been in touch with the person. We have no idea what he is talking about. We believe we are fantastic to work with.

  4. Get it in writing.

Do not allow a person to do any work without the paperwork. Make sure the quotation that you have been provided is detailed. Who is supplying the supplies and who is paying for the paint.
All this should be written in a detailed quote, not on a piece of paper or on the back of a business card.

We are a painting company you can trust.
